This TAFE institute website is no longer in use.
From 1 July 2006 two new TAFE institutes came into operation:
SkillsTech Australia manages trades training programs, staff and students from Yeronga, Logan, Moreton, Brisbane North, Southbank Institute and Open Learning Institutes of TAFE in metropolitan Brisbane.
All other training in metropolitan Brisbane is delivered by three institutes:
-
Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE, operating from the previous Logan, Yeronga and Moreton TAFE Institutes' campuses
-
Southbank Institute of Technology, and
-
Brisbane North Institute of TAFE, incorporating TAFE Open Learning.
These changes are a part of the Queensland Skills Plan, a policy framework aiming to match the supply of skilled labour to industry's needs and the economy's demands. The plan outlines significant reforms to the vocational education and training system and TAFE.
